You have your development process all set up, tests and automation from the first line of code and a CI/CD pipeline worthy of producing Toyota cars.You are asking yourself:Do we need another vague title in our organisational setup to keep up with the FANG gang?Is SRE needed to get our company listed on the NY stock market?Are there at least two companies that agree on what SRE is?The answers to the above are all negative.On the other hand I will try to explain:- why we decided to form a dedicated SRE team in Infobip- what are the competences we deemed necessary for the job- what practices do we use to reach and defend our reliability targets- what does SRE have to do with our quality assurance- what are the pitfalls we fell into- how do we help developers improve the reliability of their services- how do we help communicate about reliability topics between development, operations, support, leadership, management and customers- how do we make our customers happyMost of all I would like to share about:- what we learned on our journey,- the different approaches organisations employ to tackle reliability of their services and- the first steps I would advise you to take on your journey.
