Why is Java (still) the most popular? What are the reasons why we use various technologies related to Java and the JVM so much? Continuous evolution for more than 20 years and additional expansion in recent years? What about innovative future? And where are we - developers and Java community, global and local? Our everyday work life and assignments? Java jobs in the world, in EU, and in Croatia? What is our value? How to present ourselves in the international market - as a company or an individual? What about our knowledge and skills - are they sufficient? Education related to Java? What about certificates? How to find suitable developers? How to attract them to our company? These are just some of the questions that we will try to answer in this community keynote for (and from) the Java community.

About speaker
Branko Mihaljević, author
Branko Mihaljević is IT educator, consultant, manager, and entrepreneur. After 12 years of work at FER, where he received MSc, DSM, and PhD, and 7 years as a co-owner of Java development company, he is currently IT lecturer at RIT Croatia and leading his IT company. He deals with Java since 1996 and with Java EE platform since 2000. He is an author of many scientific and professional papers, magazine articles, and educational materials, and he participates in numerous conferences. He gained his work experience as an IT consultant, IT manager, development leader, software architect, and researcher on various IT projects in financial, telecom, public health and satellite systems sector. For the last 4 years, he is the president of Croatian Java User Association (HUJAK).
Aleksander Radovan, coauthor
My name is Aleksander Radovan, I graduated in 2004 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb where I am currently finishing the PhD program. I'm in the Java more than 12 years, I've passed OCP certificate and I'm preparing for the OCM certificate. I'm currently working as Java team lead at the KING ICT d.o.o., as a senior lecturer of programming courses at several universities in and around Zagreb and I'm president of Board of Education in Croatian Java User Group.
