Machine learning has been applied with great success in many projects in industry. But not so many developers are familiar with the algorithms that are behind machine learning. Knowing that, it is understandable that they meet a lot of difficulties when it comes to solving everyday problems. One of such is the problem of building an image classifier and detecting a specific parts of that image. Even though there are many APIs available to apply in Java solutions, they usually cannot solve specific cases. This presentation will show how to build a custom image classifier with minimal knowledge of machine learning and it's algorithms. A demo in Java will be also included in order to describe all important parts of classifier building process, training and testing.

Matea Pejčinović, author
A software engineer in one of the leading companies in banking sector in South-Eastern Europe-Asseco SEE. During the college she has gained interest in algorithmic approach to problem solving, as well as computer security and machine learning. Her primary focus is on developing enterprise software solutions using Java technologies in fintech sector, as well as sharing knowledge. In free time, she enjoys travelling and learning new languages.
